Today I am showing my outdoor outfit. It’s warm outside - so I didn’t need a full on coat. Oh, and underneath I wore this brown striped sweater over the dress. The “scarf” around my neck is actually a shawl. And I carried this purse under the cape.

I’ve always heard magazines, books etc. talk about making sure you have all your basic building blocks of a wardrobe – this poet blouse is my “white collared shirt”. And I also do not own the much required little black dress *gasp*, but it’s just not a basic for me.

This dress is a one of my favorites. I remember discovering it in the basement of our house when I was 13. It looks to possibly be homemade as well. It’s the item of clothing in my wardrobe that I’ve had the longest.

Wow! I got up on A Monday and made a (in my mind) cohesive look and also a no-black outfit, I am happy!! I prefer not to add to the sea of black on the sidewalks. Also, when I wear black, I like to wear it with a purpose, not just because it’s easy (which I have done too much in the past). Back to the outfit, I love to mix electric blue and pink because they are two of my favorite colors. ;-) This tie top is so adorable, it was one of those items at the thrift store that I end up debating about all the way up to the register – I am so glad I got it!!
It’s too bad this lighting doesn’t show the blue very well.
