Got Dirt, Got Air, Got Water & I Know You Can Carry On

Category: My OutfitsEyeliah

The second night of purging was much more difficult as my friends were mean and firm. We’ve now gone through everything excluding accessories. 70% of my wardrobe has been cut and I’m left mostly with boring clothes classic pieces *sigh*.  Detailed post to follow shortly. Remember how I get to save 5 pieces from each PURGE? Well this yellow sweater is one of them from the second night.
It’s fun, unique, yellow… why would I ever get rid of it?

Keep It, Store It, Lose It – Closet Purge Part I

Category: My ClosetEyeliah

Last Wednesday I had my girlfriends over to help me start a closet purge. A la Sex & The City (click that link) I made signs KEEP IT, STORE IT, LOSE IT and the girls threw them up with enthusiasm while I modeled my wardrobe piece by piece. I thought this was going to be fun, but with my favorite paisley and highlighter skirts not making the cut right from the get go I knew I was in trouble. I recall the term they used for a majority of my clothes was “grandma”. At the end of Round 1 after going through 40% of my clothes, 65% was cut.  The biggest insult being 50+ skirts were narrowed down to 17!!

Truthfully my girlfriends input was quite helpful and all that sorting only took an hour and fifteen minutes.  Now this purging does come with a catch or “Bonus Rule” if you will that at the end of each evening I get to pick 5 items out of the LOSE IT pile to KEEP. Thank goodness because with this rule my sheer lace blouse, striped maxi dress, red polka dot skirt, purple blazer and green silk skirt were all saved. :-) But no amount of begging, outfit creating and pouting could keep me these cuffable jeans!!  In fact the girls marked them the only think I was NOT ALLOWED to save, I was so sad but I guess I can see why. Other notables leaving my closet are the white polka dot skirt, everything leopard print and my sheer electric blue blouse.

Have you ever done a big purge? Tell me I’ll feel great after…. Please!

In a half hour Round 2 starts with a few different friends in the mix, again I’m nervous to see what they let me keep.

My Dress Is the Prettiest

Category: My OutfitsEyeliah

Okay I wrote a whole post and then lost it!  I’m about to go out of town camping so I’m writing fast now.

I’ve been living in this yellow floral dress, I’ve worn it three times this month.

This work outfit included jeans and belting, then after a quick removal I was beach ready.

Tell Me When You Hear My Silence

Category: My OutfitsEyeliah

I wore this outfit to the fireworks…. No not the current biweekly event but the Canada Day Fireworks…. On July 1st!! Gosh I am so behind with photos. There is even 10 more recently worn outfits to photograph. With everything that’s been going on in my life I have been still struggling to keep the blog regular, I am sure you’ve noticed. Have you been to The Eyeline lately? Because it’s not updated…. My goal has been to grow The Eyeline into something; make it bigger, better, bolder, minimum 12 posts a week *sigh*. I am still hoping to achieve that in the future. In between all the craziness I am dealing with there is also so many wonderful fun things, outdoor movie nights, beach days, biking, new friends. Lately my mood is either very high or so low, I’m trying to get back to that middle ground. I have been reading A New Earth, and it talks a lot about being steady and “this too shall pass” meaning to not get overly upset or too happy by events in your life. I feel like the book has been helpful just as The Road Less Traveled was to me a year ago. I like the ways they’ve helped me to open my mind, understand thought processes, be more positive and worry less. Basically an extension of the results I get from regular yoga and meditation.

Do you ever read “self-help” books? Any to recommend?
